There can be such punishment by making deep fake
Let me tell you that making deep fake is a crime. There is a provision for legal action for this in India. Under Section 66D of the Information Technology Act 2000, if the identity of a person is misused and cheated. So one has to pay a sentence of up to 3 years and a fine of one lakh rupees.

So at the same time, according to Section 66E of this Act, one has to pay a sentence of up to 3 years and up to Rs 2 lakh for release of someone without permission. Apart from this, under Section 336 (2) of the Indian Code of Justice, there can be imprisonment and fine of up to 2 years. So at the same time, under Section 336 (3) of BNS, there can be a jail of up to 7 years.

So in such a situation, you can register your complaint about this by visiting the official website of the National Cyber Crime Response Portal https://cybercrime.gov.in/. After this, appropriate action will be taken against the accused.
