Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has given another big responsibility to former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi. The party issued a statement saying on Friday (July 25) that Atishi has been appointed in charge of Goa.
AAP said, “Pankaj Gupta is unhealthy and because of this he is not available. For this reason, Atishi is being appointed in charge of Goa. We wish him all the best for his new responsibility. ”
On March 21, Pankaj Gupta was made in charge of Goa. Along with this, Ankush Narang, Abhaas Chandela and Deepak Singla were appointed as co -incharge.
Leader of Opposition is Atishi
Atishi is currently the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly and is targeting the BJP on the issue of water logging, bulldozer action and action of central agencies.
Atishi became the CM of Delhi in September 2024 and remained till February 2025. Earlier, Arvind continued to command many departments including education in the government led by Kejriwal.
Atishi won from Kalkaji seat in the Delhi assembly elections. He defeated BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress candidate Alka Lamba. In this election, many of AAP leaders including Arvind Kejriwal, Satyendra Jain, Manish Sisodia and Saurabh Bhardwaj suffered defeat, but the Atishi managed to save the seat. After this victory, the Aam Aadmi Party made Atishi the Leader of Opposition.
Party focus on Goa
After the defeat in Delhi, you are trying to strengthen the organization. The focus of the party is on Goa along with Delhi, Punjab, Gujarat. Assembly elections are going to be held in Goa in the year 2027. The Aam Aadmi Party got two seats in the 2022 election. He got 6.77 percent votes. Goa has a BJP government and the main opposition party is Congress.
