Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpura and 6 others from Khadur Sahib Assembly of Punjab have been convicted in the 12 -year -old case by the court of Tarn Taran. MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpura was convicted by the court of Tarn Taran.

The police have taken the MLA into custody and the court will sentence the case on 12 September. The court has sent to judicial custody.

It is alleged that on 3 March 2013, a woman was attacked by some policemen, Manjinder Singh Lalpura and others at a wedding ceremony at Goindwal Sahib in Tarn Taran.

A case was registered in this regard against Manjinder Singh, eight policemen and some others under sections 354, 323, 506,148,149 of the IPC.

Manjinder Singh Lalpura won for the first time

Lalpura won the 2022 election for the first time from Khadur Sahib. He got 55,756 votes. He defeated Ramanjeet Singh Sikki of Congress. Sikki got 39,265 votes. At the same time, Ranjit Singh of Akali Dal got 38,532 votes.

Earlier, Sikki of Congress won the 2017 elections. He got 64,665 votes. Till there, Akali candidates were second and AAP candidates finished third.
