A new chapter has been added to the Indian Navy uniform. Sub-Lieutenant Aastha Punia has done such a feat, which the whole country is proud of. Aastha has now become the first female fighter pilot of the Indian Navy. With her reaching this point, a new phase of women empowerment in the Navy has started.
Where did the historical moment happen?
On 3 July 2025, this glorious moment came in the closing ceremony of ‘Second Basic Hawk Conversion Course’ at INS Daga, Visakhapatnam. On this occasion, Aastha Punia and Lieutenant Atul Kumar Dhul were awarded ‘Wings of Gold’. This honor was awarded him by rear admiral Janak Bewali (ACNS, Air).
