Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned America that he is ready for war if Washington wants to test Tehran. This warning has come in response to US President Donald Trump’s threat to take military action.
In an interview with Al Jazeera Arabic on Monday (12 January), Araghchi said that channels of communication with the US remained open amid the unrest, but stressed that his country was ready for all options. Claiming that Iran now has larger and more comprehensive military preparations compared to last year’s 12-day war.
Trump had threatened to attack
There are nationwide protests due to the economic crisis in Iran and now the demand for change in governance is increasing. Meanwhile, Trump had commented on this on Sunday. The US President had said that he was exploring tough options, including possible military action, in view of the Iranian leadership’s crackdown on protests.
We are ready to answer- Araghchi
Trump has also said that a meeting is being organized to discuss Tehran’s nuclear program, but because of what is happening before the meeting, we may have to take action. On the other hand, Araghchi said that if Washington wants to try the military option which it has tried before, then we are ready for it.
Araghchi expressed hope that America would choose a wise option for talks. He also warned to beware of those who are trying to drag Washington into war to serve Israel’s interests. Regarding the protests in Iran, Araghchi said that terrorist elements infiltrated the crowd of protesters. Security forces and protesters were targeted. Iran blamed America and Israel for spreading unrest in the country for the last two weeks.
