Abhishek Sharma was elected the best player of the Asia Cup 2025 held last month, now the ICC has also rewarded him for his excellent performance in the ACC tournament. ICC announced the names of the Player of the Month winners for the month of September. Indian players won this award in both male and female categories. Abhishek Sharma won the ICC Player of the Match award in the men’s and Smriti Mandhana in the women’s category.
Abhishek Sharma had scored 314 runs in 7 matches played in Asia Cup 2025 with an excellent strike rate of 200. He was the batsman who scored the most runs in the tournament and also received the Player of the Tournament award. Although he did not bat in the final, Team India won the title match.
Abhishek Sharma is currently at number one in the ICC T20 batting rankings. Abhishek has become the player with the highest rating points in this format. He won this award leaving behind Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett and Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav.
Abhishek Sharma said, “It feels great to win this award. I am happy that I have received this award for important matches in which I could help with my performance. I am proud to be a part of a team which can win in the most difficult situations.”
Smriti Mandhana won the award in women category
Smriti Mandhana won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month (September 2025) award for her amazing performance in the home ODI series against Australia. He scored centuries in 2 out of 3 matches. He scored 58 runs in the first match and 117 runs in the second match. He scored 125 runs in the third match. However, Australia won this series 2-1. He scored 135.68 runs in 4 matches in the month at an average of 77 and a strike rate of 135.68.
