Punjab team has lost in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy under the captaincy of Abhishek Sharma. Both Punjab and Haryana teams were able to score 207 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, after which a super over took place, in which Haryana registered a thrilling victory. Abhishek Sharma could not do anything amazing with the bat in this match, while Anshul Kamboj became the hero of Haryana’s victory who plays for Chennai Super Kings in IPL.
Haryana team batted first, for which captain Ankit Kumar played a stormy innings of 51 runs in 26 balls. On the other hand, Nishant Sindhu also wreaked havoc on the Punjab bowlers, who scored 61 runs in 32 balls. Even before the end of the 13th over, Haryana’s score had crossed 140. In the last overs, Sumit Kumar played a cameo inning of 28 runs in 14 balls, taking the team to the score of 207.
Abhishek Sharma did not go
Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh opened for Punjab, which came to chase the target of 208 runs. Abhishek scored only 6 runs, while by the time the team’s score reached 28, both the openers of Punjab were out. Anmolpreet Singh held one end and scored 81 runs in 37 balls, during which he hit 8 fours and 5 sixes. Ultimately the Punjab team could only score 207 runs in 20 overs.
Haryana won in super over
Punjab batted first in the super over. Anshul Kamboj had dismissed Abhishek Sharma and Sanveer Singh on consecutive balls, Punjab could score only one run in the Super Over. For Haryana, Nishant Sindhu made Haryana not only win the Super Over but also the match by hitting a four on the very first ball.
