In the first match, Abhishek played an inning of 84 runs in 35 balls which included eight sixes.

Chapman told the media after the match, ‘To be honest, his batting is strong and explosive. I have not seen him playing much but his ability to hit sixes is unmatched. The way he plays, it seems that he thinks a lot about his batting. He said, ‘They are playing very good cricket at the moment. This is the specialty of T20 cricket. When a player is playing very well, it becomes difficult to stop him. We have to review our game. We have to improve in all three departments of the game.

New Zealand may have lost the series but Chapman believes that this is ideal preparation for his team for the T20 World Cup. He said, ‘We have to focus on making big scores. The pitches are really good, but we understand very well that not every pitch in India is the best. The ball will turn many times. Therefore we have to be prepared for every situation. Chapman said, ‘From our point of view there can be nothing better than facing one of the best T20 teams in the world to prepare for the World Cup. It feels great to see the way they are playing. So hopefully we will learn something from them. He said, ‘In this match our team could not score enough runs which is disappointing but there are batsmen in our team who can play big shots. Indian bowlers have to be praised. He bowled very well and did not let us play freely.
