According to Google, she has been working to improve Google Map, especially for India for the last ten years. For this, the company continuously updates the map with the AI ​​technology (ie machine thinking ability) and the help of local partners of India. So far, Google has mapped 70 lakh kilometers of roads, 30 crore buildings and 3.5 crore shops and places in India. Through this, people can get information about real time traffic, can see live street view and avoid problems like floods or jams.

Many features were launched first in India

Also, Google launched many features in India first, such as a landmark feature, offline map without internet, two-wheeler mode for bikes and scooters and charging station for electric vehicles. Google also told that now it is also giving information about metro, bus and train in more than 15 cities. According to Google, recently in Kochi and Chennai, Google has started the facility of Metro Ticket Booking with ONDC and Namma travelers, so that people can take tickets directly from Google Map App.

Map is updated millions of times every day

According to Google, he updates the map millions of times every day. For this, the company seeks AI technology, satellite and street view photos, information from government departments and more than 60 million users of India, who send information in the map themselves.

Google said that it also works with several traffic police departments, so that information about the changes in traffic during festivals or large events can be updated in the map on time. For example, this work was done during the G20 conference, Cricket World Cup, Kolkata’s Durga Puja and Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh.

Still need to improve- Google

Google also stated that recently it has made the process of reporting road accidents easier and has added two new alerts (for fog and water -filled roads) in India, so that people can be careful on time. Google admitted that there is still a need to improve, but it is constantly making the map better by taking feedback from users and the help of technology.
