Accused Akashdeep got bail in Baba Siddiqui murder case, Bombay High Court imposed this condition

Mumbai High Court on Monday (February 9) granted bail to Akashdeep Karaj Singh, accused in the murder of Congress leader and former MLA Baba Siddiqui. He is the first accused to get bail in this case. The bench of Justice Neela Gokhale has directed Singh, a resident of Punjab, not to leave Mumbai till the hearing of the case is completed.

The accused claimed to be implicated in the bail petition

On the night of October 12, 2024, three assailants shot dead Baba Siddiqui (66) outside the office of his son Zeeshan in Bandra East area. In the case in which Mumbai Police arrested Singh (22) in November 2024. The accused had claimed in the bail petition that he has been implicated in this case and the allegations leveled against him are false and vague. Singh also claimed that he is only accused of being a member of an organized crime gang and no specific role has been assigned to him in the case.

The petitioner’s lawyer also argued that the hearing of this case should not start in the near future and putting him in jail without trial is a violation of his fundamental rights.

Anmol Bishnoi has been named as a wanted accused in the charge sheet.

The police had filed the charge sheet in this case in the new year 2026, January. In the charge sheet, Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been named as a wanted accused. According to the government side, it is believed that Anmol Bishnoi had conspired to murder Siddiqui to establish fear and dominance in the crime gang. Police have arrested 26 people in this case and a case has also been registered against them under Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). All the accused are currently in judicial custody.
