Periods are a natural process that every woman has to go through. During this period, some women complain of light bleeding or spotting during periods, while some women have heavy bleeding during this period. Periods start when girls are in puberty i.e. when a girl starts maturing.

The time of periods that comes every month can be difficult for many women. During this time, pain is felt in the stomach, waist or thighs, which is called dysmenorrhea in medical language. Sometimes this pain is so severe that even daily life tasks become difficult, but with the help of some home and home remedies, you can reduce this pain. So let us know which home remedies should be adopted to get rid of period pain that occurs every month.

Some common causes of period pain

There are many reasons for pain during periods in women such as contraction of the muscles of the uterus, hormonal imbalance, endometriosis, lump in the uterus, pelvic inflammation or too much stress and bad lifestyle, due to these reasons women have to face more pain and it also causes many changes in the body during periods like pain or strain in the stomach and waist, fatigue and weakness, change in mood or Irritability, flatulence and change in appetite, headache or migraine, appearance of pimples on the face or difficulty in sleeping.

Easy home remedies to reduce pain during periods

1. Use a hot water bag to apply heat – Keeping a hot water bottle or heat pad on the stomach or lower waist for 10-15 minutes provides relief to the muscles and reduces pain quickly. If the pain is severe then apply hot towel or heat pad on the stomach and waist 2 to 3 times a day.

2. Drink more water – Drink warm water to reduce pain during periods. Lukewarm water keeps the blood pressure in the body healthy and provides relief from cramps.

3. Do light yoga or stretching – If women have severe pain during periods, they should do light yoga or stretching, like child pose, cat-cow pose, doing these opens the body and provides relief from pain.

4. Drink ginger-turmeric tea – Drinking ginger-turmeric tea can be beneficial to reduce pain during periods. Both of these have anti-inflammatory properties. This reduces pain and also improves mood.

5. Drink fennel water – Soak one spoon of fennel in water overnight and filter it in the morning and drink it on an empty stomach, this reduces stomach cramps and keeps periods regular.

6. Eat sesame and jaggery – Eating choti mixed with 1-2 spoons of sesame seeds and a little jaggery reduces pain during periods. Sesame seeds contain calcium and magnesium which strengthen the muscles.

7. Do light massage with essential oil – Lightly massaging the stomach and waist with warm oil like lavender or coconut oil reduces pain and improves blood circulation.

8. Stay away from caffeine and fried foods – To reduce pain during periods, avoid caffeine and fried foods. Due to this, the stomach may feel bloated and the pain may increase further.
