Big news has come for thousands of youth who dream of becoming officers in the Indian Air Force. Indian Air Force (IAF) has released the result of AFCAT 1 exam 2026. Now the candidates who had given this examination can check their result by visiting the official website. As soon as the results of this examination are declared, there is an atmosphere of excitement among the candidates. After several months of preparation and waiting, they now know whether they have been selected for the next phase or not.
Recruitment in many branches of the Air Force will be done through AFCAT 1 examination. In this, a total of 38 posts have been earmarked for the flying branch. Apart from this, there are also a large number of posts in the technical branch of ground duty. These include posts related to Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) and Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical). Whereas in the non-technical branch, posts related to administration, logistics, accounts, education and weapon systems will also be filled. Apart from this, recruitment will also be done for posts related to meteorology.
Now there will be an interview
Candidates who are successful in the written examination will now be called for interview by Air Force Selection Board (AFSB). This is considered a very important stage of the selection process. During the interview, the thinking ability, self-confidence, leadership qualities and ability to work in a team are tested. Only the candidates who are successful in this stage are able to move forward.
For which branches are the exams held?
AFCAT exam is conducted for recruitment in many different branches of the Indian Air Force. The most prominent among these is the flying branch, where selected candidates move towards becoming fighter pilots or transport aircraft pilots.
Apart from this, there is also a ground duty branch, which includes both technical and non-technical posts. Engineering related work is done in the technical branch, while non-technical branch includes departments like administration, logistics, education and accounts.
Recruitment takes place in three stages
The path to becoming an officer in the Indian Air Force is not easy. For this the candidates have to go through many stages. The first stage is a written examination, which is called AFCAT. In this, the candidates’ general knowledge, mathematics, reasoning power and understanding of English are tested.
After this, in the second phase there are group tests and psychological tests. During this, candidates have to participate in different activities, where their thinking, decision making ability and team spirit are seen. In this stage, personal interview of the candidates is also taken. Here the officials try to understand how prepared the candidate is for the responsibilities of the Air Force.
The last stage is medical test. In this, the physical fitness and health of the candidates is completely examined. The names of the candidates who successfully pass all these stages are included in the final merit list.

Candidates can check their result by visiting the official portal of AFCAT. For this they will need their registered email ID and password. After login, the result will appear on the screen. Candidates have been advised to download and keep their scorecard safe as it may be required in the further selection process.
