Kolkata Knight Riders has appointed Rinku Singh as the vice-captain in IPL 2026, which was announced during an event. The franchise has clarified that Ajinkya Rahane will remain the captain of KKR. Rinku was recently appointed to the post of Regional Sports Officer by the Uttar Pradesh government, although the cricketer did not come to collect the appointment letter due to being busy in IPL.
Rinku Singh made his IPL debut for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018, since then he has been playing for the same franchise and has now become an important member. Giving the vice-captaincy of KKR to Rinku Singh is an indication that in future the franchise can also hand over the command of the team to him.
If we look at the IPL salary graph of Rinku Singh, there has been a lot of increase in it. In 2018, he was sold for Rs 80 lakh, since then he remained at this price till 2021. Rinku Singh made headlines by hitting 5 sixes in a single over of Yash Dayal, after which his value also increased but his salary decreased. His IPL price dropped to Rs 55 lakh in 2022-2024, but in the last edition, KKR had retained him for Rs 13 crore. He is playing at the same price in IPL 2026 also.

IPL 2026 is starting from March 28. On Sunday, March 29, the second match of the league will be played between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede. This match will start at 7:30 pm.
