Sanjay Manjrekar Raised Questions On Team India Victory: By winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, Team India has won the title for a record third time. The Indian team has become the first team to achieve this feat. There is an atmosphere of celebration in the entire country after India became the world champion. Apart from India, no other cricket team in the world has been able to win the T20 World Cup trophy thrice. Team India has become champion in the years 2007, 2024 and now 2026 by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the title match. The whole country is proud of this achievement of the Indian men’s cricket team, while some former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has raised questions on the victory of Team India.
Sanjay Manjrekar made a controversial post
Sanjay Manjrekar often remains in controversy due to his statements. Now raising questions on Team India’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2026, he wrote on social media platform X, ‘With time, we will have to look at these world titles given every year in the right perspective. In terms of challenge and prestige, India’s T20 World Cup wins in 1983 under Kapil Dev’s captaincy and 2011 under Dhoni’s captaincy are nowhere in comparison to the 50-over World Cup wins.
In time we need to put these world titles given out every year in proper perspective.
India’s T20 WC wins don’t come remotely close to their 50 overs WC wins of 1983 under Kapil Dev & 2011 under Dhoni in terms of its pure challenge & it’s sanctity.

Is T20 World Cup victory inferior to 1983 and 2011?
This statement of Sanjay Manjrekar has created an uproar on social media. Manjrekar is clearly raising questions on the achievements of the T20 World Cup with his statement, but the question is also whether Team India did not have to work hard to win three T20 World Cup trophies. In the present era, Team India is a super power in cricket, which the whole world is accepting today. Be it the captaincy of Kapil Dev or Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Team India has had its own struggle in every era. It is the result of that struggle and hard work that today Indian cricket is gaining dominance all over the world, but comparing the achievements is in a way an insult to victory.
