During this, thousands of youth took to the streets, who after some time clashed with the security forces. It is being told that about 22 people died in this clash. People here say that they have to struggle a lot even for basic services.
How Andrey Rajoelina came to power
According to the report of Radio France International, President Andrey Rajoelina was safely evacuated from Madagascar by a French military aircraft on Sunday (12 October 2025) at the request of French President Emmanuel Macron. Rajoelina came to power for the first time in 2009 with the support of the army. He left the post in the year 2014. After this, after winning the elections in 2018, he once again became the President of Madagascar.

According to Reuters report, Madagascar’s opposition leader said that President Andrey Rajoelina has left the country. He told that after several weeks of protests by the youth, he had become very isolated. CAPSAT, an army unit, also participated in these rallies along with the protesters. This army unit had rejected the order to open fire on the protesters.
