After PDA bet, BJP’s special focus on OBC vote bank, will keep an eye on cultivating more than 30 castes

Keeping in view the role of OBC voters, Bharatiya Janata Party is once again working on a strategy to strengthen its hold in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. BJP is starting a new campaign to help more than 30 out of 75 backward castes of the OBC community and has also made preparations to increase dialogue at the social level.

SP’s PDA move had a big impact on state politics

In fact, since 2014, BJP had received huge support from OBC votes, due to which the party came to power in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. But the PDA (Backward-Dalit-Minority) move taken by SP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections made a big impact in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. Due to this strategy BJP had to suffer loss of seats in the state. While the party had won 62 seats in 2019, in the 2024 elections the party was reduced to only 33 seats.

This time BJP’s main focus is on castes like Maurya, Kurmi, Kashyap, Kushwaha, Nishad, Rajbhar, Saini, Pal and Prajapati, so that they can increase their vote bank. Because these communities are considered to have considerable influence in many districts and assembly constituencies. Meanwhile, programs are being organized in various districts by the OBC Morcha of the party, in which prominent social faces of these castes are being given a place on the stage.

Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary given the responsibility of handling OBC votes

This time, BJP has given command to Union Minister and Kurmi community Pankaj Choudhary to handle the OBC votes. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is already a big face of the OBC community in the state government. Recently, the national convention of BJP’s Backward Class Morcha was organized in Lucknow. Which was presided over by the Deputy Chief Minister of the state Keshav Maurya, while Morcha’s National President Narendra Kumar Kashyap played a major role in the event. Through this conference, the party clearly indicated that backward classes will be the main focus of BJP in the coming elections.

Many central and state level ministers of the party are visiting various districts these days. In these programs, heads of local OBC communities are also being connected with social and religious leaders. Leaders say that the population of backward classes in the country and the state is more than 50 percent, out of which the focus is on more than thirty castes which influence the election results.
