India wholesale inflation: The wholesale inflation rate (WPI) in India has come down to a two -year low -0.58 percent in July. It remains in the negative zone for the second consecutive month. It was at -0.13 percent in June. With the price of food and drink, this decline in wholesale inflation has declined due to a decrease in mineral oil, raw petroleum and natural gas and basic metals.
Wholesale inflation has been continuously decreasing since March
The wholesale inflation rate of food items (WPI) remains in June from 0.26 percent to the negative zone of 2.15 percent in July. According to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the wholesale price index (WPI) -based inflation has been decreasing continuously since March and in May the 14 -month low has come to 0.39 percent. The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for July 2025 was 0.39 percent compared to June 2025.
Prices of so many things in July
The data released by the ministry every month shows that the price of primary goods increased to 188.0 in July. During this period, the price of raw petroleum and natural gas got 2.56 percent, 2.11 percent in non-food articles and 0.96 percent in foods.
However, the price of minerals decreased by 1.08 percent. The index of fuel and power rose 1.12 percent to 144.6 in July 2025. At the same time, there has been a decline in the manufacturing product index, which declined by 0.14 percent to 144.6 in July from 144.8 of June.
Apart from this, inflation of food items was -6.29 percent in July, while in June it was 3.75 percent. Inflation of primary items decreased from 3.38 percent to -4.95 percent last month. Fuel and electricity inflation was -2.43 percent in July, while in June it was -2.65 percent. Along with this, inflation of produced products was 2.05 percent in July.
Inflation of vegetables also reduced to -28.96 percent in July, which was -22.65 percent in June. Inflation of pulses was -15.12 percent in the month of July, while wheat inflation was 4.40 percent. Eggs, meat and fish inflation in June was from 0.29 percent to 1.09 percent in July. Potato and onion inflation were -41.26 % and -44.38 percent respectively.
The wholesale inflation of non-food items was 3.40 percent in July, compared to 2.29 percent in June. Mineral inflation increased from 0.83 percent of June to 1.06 inflation in July. The wholesale inflation of raw petroleum and natural gas was -11.15 percent in July and the wholesale inflation of raw petroleum -14.86 percent.
