There is an atmosphere of great sadness and despair in the native village Kako of Jehanabad district of Bihar due to the decision of not getting relief from the Supreme Court to Sharjeel Imam of Jehanabad, accused in the famous Delhi riots case. Uncle Arshad Imam says that Sharjeel is completely innocent and he will definitely get justice, even if late.
In fact, in the Delhi riots case, the Supreme Court, after hearing seven accused in this case, granted bail to five, while Sharjeel Imam and Omar Khalid did not get any relief. The five accused who have been granted bail by the court in this case include Gulfisha Fatima, Meeran Haider, Shifa-ur-Rehman, Mohammad Salim Khan and Shadab Ahmed. Whereas the bail petitions of Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam were rejected.
Sharjeel’s uncle said – nephew is innocent
Here, after the decision of the Supreme Court, people in Kako village seem disappointed. Sharjeel Imam’s uncle Arshad Imam, reacting to the court’s decision, said that he fully respects the decision of the Supreme Court. He said that my nephew Sharjeel Imam is innocent. For now, the entire decision will be read carefully and after that a decision will be taken regarding further legal process.
He also said that he has full faith in the judicial system and will take the next step only within the ambit of law. Sooner or later, Sharjeel will get justice.
After this decision, Sharjeel Imam’s mother Afsa Rahim is in shock and is crying badly. She refused to say anything before coming in front of the media. Let us tell you that Sharjeel Imam has studied from IIT Mumbai and has been a research scholar in JNU. He is a resident of Kako village in Jehanabad district. His father Akbar Imam was a leader of JDU and had also contested the Jehanabad assembly elections from JDU and lost in a close contest to RJD candidate Dr. Sachchidanand Yadav.
Sharjeel Imam is in jail since 2020
Sharjeel Imam played an important role in Delhi’s Shaheenbagh movement against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Cases were registered in many states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Assam regarding his alleged statements. Sharjeel Imam was arrested by Delhi Police from Kako, Jehanabad on 28 January 2020 and since then he is in jail.
More than 50 people died in Delhi riots
It is noteworthy that in the year 2020, 53 people were killed in the violence in Delhi, hundreds were injured and property and businesses were damaged on a large scale. In the last five years, as part of this larger conspiracy, the police have taken action against student activists and local leaders who are said to be associated with anti-CAA protests.
