It is always necessary to get RC transferred as soon as the vehicle is sold. First of all, prepare a sale letter between you and the buyer. This is a written document which contains the date of sale of the vehicle, the price and the signatures of both. This proves the date from which the vehicle was sold.

After this, start the process of RC transfer. For this the buyer has to fill Form 29 and Form 30. Both these forms can be easily downloaded from the RTO website. In these, vehicle information, engine number, chassis number and information of both the parties are recorded.

The form should be filled and signed by both you and the buyer. After this the buyer has to submit some important documents in the RTO. This includes your old RC, copy of insurance, pollution certificate, sale letter, Aadhaar or identity documents of both the people and passport photo.

If there was a loan on the car. So NOC is also necessary. The transfer process becomes quite easy if all the documents are submitted correctly. After this the transfer fee is deposited in the RTO. This fee depends on the type of vehicle.

After depositing the fees, the vehicle can also be inspected, especially if the RTO deems it necessary. After checking the engine number and chassis number, the officials verify the documents. As soon as all the formalities are completed, the file goes into the process.

After the file is processed, RC is prepared in the name of the new owner by the RTO. This card is sent to the buyer’s address by post or if he wishes, he can also collect it himself from the RTO office. Until the new RC is issued, you should preserve the receipt of the transfer application. This remains proof that the vehicle is no longer in your name.
