The International Criminal Court (ICT) in Bangladesh on Monday (November 17, 2025) sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to death. After this decision of ICT, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has made allegations targeting India regarding Sheikh Hasina.
BNP leader accuses India of Sheikh Hasina
BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that India is creating an opportunity for subversion and tension in Bangladesh by giving shelter to ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He said, ‘India has given shelter to a fugitive criminal from Bangladesh, along with this the country is giving her (Sheikh Hasina) an opportunity to carry out sabotage against Bangladesh and this is not legal behavior on the part of India. This is very unfortunate.
BNP leader Ruhul Rizvi made this comment while answering a question at a press conference held in Nayapaltan on Monday (November 17, 2025).
India gave shelter to illegal person- BNP leader
The BNP leader said that in a country like India, where democracy rules and an independent judiciary is established, Sheikh Hasina should not get any kind of leeway to indulge in any wrong activity. He said, ‘Giving shelter to an illegal person and allowing him to freely cause havoc within Bangladesh can never be accepted.’
Rizvi has alleged that the person being prosecuted under the laws of Bangladesh is issuing instructions independently from India and those instructions have no legal basis. He said that Sheikh Hasina is asking people in Bangladesh to burn and destroy properties and such orders are clearly illegal. If India calls itself a democratic country then how can it allow this to happen?
