Before the elections in Bihar, after the voter intensive revision i.e. SIR, now the Election Commission says that a new voter IG card will be issued to all the voters whose names will be recorded in the final voter list. At present, the Election Commission has started work on it. But the final decision in this regard will be taken after seeing the status of the final voter list and the photo given by the voters.

In such a situation, let us know how the new voter ID cards are to be made, how can it be applied and which documents will be used.

Apply online like this?

step 1: Go to the website. First of all, visit the National Voters Service Portal (NVSP) or Bihar Chief Electoral Officer’s website (Ceoelection.bihar.gov.in).

Step 2: Registration or login on the portal through mobile number and email ID.

Step 3: Select New Registration for General Electors option and fill Form-6.

Step 4: Enter your information such as name, date of birth, gender, address, contact details and family information correctly.

Step 5: Upload the document.

Step 6: Submit the application. After submitting the form and documents, you will get a reference number. With this number you can track the status of online application.

Step 7: Your application and documents will be examined by booth level officer (BLO). If everything is correct, your voter ID card will be made and sent to the address.

Which documents will work?

Birth Certificate- Released by Municipal Corporation, Panchayat or a recognized government authority.

Passport- Copy of valid Indian passport.

Educational Certificate- Matriculation or higher class certificate, which has been issued by a recognized board or university.

Government ID card/Pension Order- Documents related to the identity card or pension issued from the Central Government, State Government or PSU (PSU).

Permanent Residence Certificate- Released by District Magistrate or any equivalent authority.

Forest Rights Certificate- Where applied, to prove validity there.

Caste Certificate- For SC, ST or OBC category.

NRC Documents- Apply only in areas where it is necessary.

Family Register- Released by local bodies (eg Panchayat/Municipal Corporation).

Land or House Allocation Certificate- Documents related to allocation issued from a government office.

Government ID card before 1987- Any valid ID issued before 1987 by Sarkar or PSU.
