Following the massive explosion near the Red Fort, security arrangements will be increased in and around the capital’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on the final day of the Ranji Trophy Group D match between Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir. This stadium is just a few kilometers away from the Red Fort.
Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) Secretary Ashok Sharma told PTI on Monday, “Security will be increased around the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium (Arun Jaitley Stadium) on the final day of the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.”
“I will contact Delhi Police officials and request them to deploy additional security outside the stadium complex,” he said.
Many vehicles were burnt to ashes and at least 9 people were killed in a massive explosion in a car parked near the Red Fort metro station on Monday evening. 24 people are said to be injured in this explosion. The explosion occurred when there was a crowd of people in the area in the evening.
High alert in Delhi, Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh
In the initial investigation, Delhi Police says that the blast took place in a parked car. The entire area has been cordoned off by the police. Also, movement of normal vehicles has been stopped. After this incident, high alert has been issued in Delhi, Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh. So far, 11 people have been confirmed dead and many others are injured due to the blast that took place in a car parked near Gate No. 1 of Red Fort metro station.
