Former wicketkeeper-batsman of the Indian cricket team, Parthiv Patel has praised KL Rahul and said that after the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, a big responsibility has fallen on Rahul.
Speaking to GeoHotstar, Parthiv Patel said, “KL Rahul has been performing brilliantly with the responsibility. After the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the onus has fallen on Rahul to perform better in challenging conditions. We know his skills. He lets the ball come to him against the spinners and uses his feet very well. This style suits him perfectly. Now the most important thing is his ability to pick up the pace, which he mentioned Did it myself. He takes his time in the beginning, assesses the bowlers and the fielding, and then chooses the right opportunities to attack. Currently, his average in Test cricket is around 36. He is a much better batsman than these figures suggest. “It’s encouraging to see his consistency this year.”
Rahul scored a century in the first Test of the series played against West Indies in Ahmedabad. He had played an inning of 100 runs. Rahul batted excellently during the England tour. Scored 532 runs in 10 innings of five Test matches, scoring two centuries and two half-centuries.
KL Rahul is the most experienced batsman in the current team. In the presence of Rohit Sharma, Rahul had to face constant changes in the batting order. Sometimes I had to bat in the opening and sometimes in the middle order. After Rohit’s retirement, the place of opening batsman in Test has been fixed for Rahul and he is batting well with full responsibility. His being in rhythm is good for the Indian team.
Rahul has scored 3,889 runs in 64 tests with the help of 11 centuries and 19 half-centuries.
