Khamenei may flee Moscow: report
An intelligence source told the British newspaper The Times that if the regime of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei collapses, he will flee to Moscow. It has been said that if the fierce protests are going on in Iran and the security forces fail to stop it, then Khamenei (86 years old) along with seven of his associates and family will flee from Tehran.
What is Khamenei’s Plan B?
According to the report, the source said, ‘Plan B is for Khamenei and his very close associates and family members, including his son and designated successor Mojtaba.’ In December 2024, then-Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, an ally of both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Khamenei, fled a rebel coup to Moscow.
Iranian Foreign Minister’s warning to America
The Supreme Leader of Iran had said on the protests taking place in his country that strictness should be taken against the rioters. After Trump’s warning, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi completely rejected any kind of interference in the country’s internal affairs. President Trump had warned that the US would take action if Iran kills peaceful protesters. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said that Iran’s military knows where to target if its sovereignty is violated.
Protests in many states of Iran
Protests started in about 21 states in Iran regarding the sharp fall of the national currency Rial. Regarding this, Foreign Minister Araghchi said that peaceful protest is the right of Iranians affected by exchange rate fluctuations. During this, he also mentioned the attack on a police station and throwing of Molotov cocktail at the officers and expressed his opinion about the violence. Along with this, he further said that criminal attacks on public property cannot be tolerated.
