Chinnaswamy Stadium AI Cameras: There is uncertainty over whether IPL 2026 matches will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru or not. RCB had won the IPL 2025 title, after which the team’s victory parade was to be held. But 11 people were killed in a stampede outside the ground. After that no big level match has been played at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore has proposed to install AI-enabled cameras to improve the security system.
In a letter to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), the RCB franchise suggested installing 300-350 AI-enabled cameras at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. With this, the movement of people can be monitored, queues and exit areas can also be monitored. The franchise said that this will especially ensure smooth operation of IPL and other big events.
This suggestion of RCB has come at a time when according to some reports, RCB’s home matches in IPL 2026 will be played in Pune. Maharashtra Cricket Association has told that in the last week of December, Bengaluru and Rajasthan teams had come to visit MCA Stadium.
Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise says that it will itself bear the cost of installing AI cameras in the field. It is being told that its total expenditure may be around Rs 4.5 crore. It has not been decided yet where RCB will play its home matches in IPL 2026. In view of the situation of Chinnaswamy Stadium not being approved, the Bengaluru franchise may be forced to hold its home matches in other cities.
