BJP aiadmk alliance: BJP and AIADMK announced an alliance for the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections last week. However, now Edappadi’s about this alliance. Palaniswami’s big statement has come. The AIADMK Chief has now turned the BJP’s intentions. They want the coalition to be successful in defeating the ruling DMK-Congress alliance.
According to Palaniswami’s comments, the Tamil party will not accept the coalition government and the alliance with the BJP is only for the assembly elections. Ignoring the comments of AIADMK supremo Palaniswami, the BJP insisted that their attention is on defeating the ruling DMK. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing happiness over the AIADMK’s decision to join the BJP -led National Alliance (NDA) earlier, posted on X that it would be strong together.
Palaniswami shared the stage with Amit Shah in the past
These comments of Palaniswami are contrary to the comments of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, with whom he shared the stage last week, announcing the AIADMK-BJP alliance. During that time, Amit Shah had said that both parties will contest elections to be held next year and the Tamil party has not placed any conditions.
Palaniswami praised PM Modi
He said that we have decided that AIADMK, BJP and all coalition parties will contest the upcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu together as NDA. At that time, Palaniswami also described this alliance based on a common approach to Tamil Nadu’s progress and prosperity and praised PM Modi’s unwavering support for the development of Tamil Nadu.
There are reports that some AIADMK leaders are unhappy about the alliance with BJP. He believes that this may have to bear the brunt of the votes of minority communities. The track record of AIADMK-BJP alliance has not been very good in the last three major elections in the state and in the Lok Sabha elections of 2019 and 2024.
In 2021, AIADMK aligned with BJP and won only 75 seats. The DMK and the Congress alliance had dropped him out of power. In the 2019 and 2024 general elections, there was a similar defeat. BJP contested 28 seats in these 2 elections and did not win a single seat.
