Aiden Markram IPL Retention: South African opener Aiden Markram believes that IPL team Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) does not need to complicate things too much and they should focus on seizing the important opportunities and winning in the 2026 IPL season. LSG has retained right-handed batsman Markram in the team ahead of the mini auction to be held next month. Markram had scored 445 runs in 13 matches in the 2025 IPL at an average of 34.23 and a strike rate of 148.83 with the help of five half-centuries.
Markram happy to be retained by LSG
“It’s great,” Aiden Markram said in a video shared on LSG’s ‘X’. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Lucknow franchise last year. I made some good friends and spent a few months with the team. So I am very grateful to have been retained and am definitely looking forward to playing another season with them.” LSG finished seventh last season with six wins and eight losses.
Markram told the plans for the next season
When asked about his plans for the next season, Markram said, “To do well in the IPL, you have to be really good as a team. I don’t think we were far behind last season. Had we been successful in capitalizing on some important opportunities, the results would have been different. He said, “We were very close to making it to the knockouts. In such a situation, nothing should be made too complicated. I think we should try to repeat what we have done well and turn some of the more difficult times in our favor. Aiden Markram is currently in India, he is part of the South Africa team that is touring India for the Test and limited overs series.
