Waqf amendment bill 2025: The Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 was introduced in the Lok Sabha and the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) opposed the bill by holding a press conference. General Secretary Mohammad Fazularrahim said that this bill is going to weaken the rights of the Muslim community and the government should withdraw it immediately.

What did AIMPLB say on the bill?

Mohammad Fazularrahim said that after this amendment, the management of Waqf properties will no longer be in the hands of Muslims, but will go under the control of the government. He said that the changes made in the bill are very serious and this will completely change the Waqf system.

What are the main objections about the bill?

Waqf Board will no longer be Muslim on the post of CEO. The government will now have control of Waqf properties. The lawyer involved in Waqf cases has been made mandatory to be Muslim. Under Section 3C (2), the Waqf property will be considered as government property. Those who have been holding any Waqf property for 12 years, they will remain there. 104 has been abolished.

Cheated jPC

AIMPLB also made serious allegations against the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). Mohammad Fazularrahim said, “JPC has spoiled the matter. By incorporating a government official, he will always give a decision in favor of the government. JPC is completely a fraud and fraud.”

Demand to withdraw bills from government

AIMPLB called this bill an attack on the rights of the Muslim community and appealed to the government to reconsider it. He said that this bill is a conspiracy to increase government control over Waqf properties, which will cause great loss to Muslim society.
