The British Prime Minister Care Stormer expressed condolences at the crash of the Air India aircraft to London, soon after flying from Ahmedabad Airport on Thursday (June 12, 2025). The aircraft had a total of 242 people, including 53 British citizens.

Shortly after flying from Ahmedabad Airport, AI’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft crashed. The aircraft had 169 Indians, 53 British, one Canadian and seven Portuguese citizens.

Stormer said in a statement, “The scene of the aircraft coming to London with many British citizens in the Indian city of Ahmedabad is frightening.” He said, ‘I am being given information from moment to moment and in this very sad time my condolences are with the passengers and their families.’

Buckingham Palace (British State Housing) said that Raja Charles III is being informed about the incident and has expressed condolences through UK Foreign Minister David Lammy.

He said, ‘It was very sad to hear the news of the devastating aircraft accident in India’s Ahmedabad. My condolences are with all the affected people. Britain is working with local authorities in India to immediately detect the facts and provide assistance.

Lammy said that Britain’s Foreign Office has formed an emergency team in both Delhi and London. Britain’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said it is working with local authorities in India to immediately detect the facts and provide assistance to the victims of the accident. It also issued a contact number for consulate assistance.

FCDO said, “British citizens who need consular help or who are concerned about friends or family should call 020 7008 5000.”

The leader of the UK opposition Conservative Party leader Kemi Bednocch has described this tragedy as a heartbreaking. He said, “My condolences are with all those who have been affected – especially with the families of the people on the aircraft, and with the emergency team who are trying to deal with this horrific tragedy.”

AI’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft were supposed to land at London’s Gatwick Airport at 6.25 pm local time, but on Thursday, flight number AI 171 crashed off the flight number AI 171 shortly after flying near Ahmedabad Airport.
