Yamaha has taken a big step in the scooter segment and introduced a special airbag system for the Tricity 300. This technology has been developed in collaboration with safety company Autoliv. Till now, a facility like airbag was available only in cars, but Yamaha wants to take the level of safety a step further by bringing it in scooters. This is especially beneficial for those who ride scooters daily and want better safety.
How does an airbag work?
This airbag system of Yamaha Tricity 300 works especially during frontal collision. It is fitted inside the front panel of the scooter, so that it is not visible from outside. As soon as a collision occurs, this airbag deploys immediately and creates a safety cushion in front of the rider. Its purpose is to protect the rider from being thrown forward forcefully during a collision. The company has designed it in such a way that it does not affect the experience of riding the scooter and works immediately when needed.
Advanced Testing and Design
Let us tell you that Yamaha and Autoliv have used very advanced technology to make this airbag system. It has been tested through simulation and multiple crash tests to ensure that it is completely safe. According to Autoliv, this technology can bring a big change in the safety of two-wheelers. Generally, bike or scooter riders do not have the same level of safety as cars, but this system tries to compensate for that shortcoming to some extent.
Why is airbag special in scooter?
Till now, the facility of airbags was mostly available in cars only, whereas for bikes or scooters, airbags came in the form of jackets or vests. Very few two-wheelers get inbuilt airbags, like the Honda Gold Wing. The arrival of this feature in Yamaha Tricity 300 is an indication that such safety technology can be seen in more scooters in the coming time. However, its price has not been revealed yet.
