After the results of Bihar, there has been a stir in the politics of UP. MY equation broke in Bihar and SP’s strategy in UP has also been shaken. Now Akhilesh Yadav is going to play a big bet on Dalit vote bank. SP is preparing to demonstrate the strength of Dalits at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan on 6th December. Along with this, the party has imposed a strict ban on commenting on the upper castes. That means SP has changed the direction of its politics. The formula PDA is the same but the target now is to bring together the entire social equation of Dalit, OBC and Forward.
The political earthquake of Bihar is now shaking the land of UP. The MY model failed in Bihar and now the Samajwadi Party in UP is “re-designing” its PDA model. SP wants to show the strength of Dalits at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan on 6th December and the message is clear. Dalits will now become the vote bank of SP and not of BSP. But along with this, SP has made another silent change in which comments on the upper castes have been stopped. Clear instructions have been given to SP leaders, keep PDA forward, but do not anger the forward society.
SP MLA explained the meaning of PDA
SP MLA Ravidas Mehrotra says that P means backward, D means Dalit and the three meanings of A are minority, half the population and upper caste. SP is fighting for justice and respect for all. Dalit community has left BSP and is now with Samajwadi Party. A record number of Dalits will participate on 6 December.
BJP said- SP is now doing a program for show
At the same time, the opposition is considering this activism of SP as election nervousness. BJP is again accusing SP of old anti-Dalit politics and saying that SP is now only doing programs for show. BJP MLC Lalji Nirmal says that Akhilesh Yadav should first apologize to the Dalit community. Ambedkar’s name was removed, reservation was attacked, now why suddenly Dalit love? This is just an election stunt. The Dalit community is and will remain angry with them.
Analysts also believe that the message given by Bihar has to be understood. The number of Yadavs is less in UP and any politics ignoring Dalit-OBC as well as forward votes has not been successful. When Mulayam Singh used to do politics, he used to give equal respect to the Brahmin and Thakur leadership along with the Yadavs.

When Mayawati also took full majority, she kept Forward with her. Congress and BJP also stand on the same formula today. Political analyst Yogesh Mishra says that Bihar has given a clear message that only MY will not work. If SP wants to win in 2027, then Thakur-Brahmin will also have to be given equal representation. PDA vs Forward: This strategy is like shooting an ax in one’s own foot. It is difficult for Dalits and Yadavs to stand on one platform.
The message given by the results of Bihar has completely changed the strategy of the largest opposition party in UP. Now Samajwadi Party is in the fray with the new avatar of PDA where preparations are being made to decide the direction of 2027 by keeping Dalits at the center, including OBCs and not angering the Forwards. But the real test is yet to come, only the rally on 6th December will tell whether the Dalit community is really moving towards SP, or this entire campaign will remain just an election exercise.
