Dhruv helicopter: Where the Indian armed forces had to struggle due to the poor services of cheetahs and chest helicopters with a plane crash and single engine, now there have been new challenges in front of the army about Dhruv (Advanced Light Helicopter) Alh.
According to the Times of India report, the Dhruv helicopter of the army has been out of service for the last three months, due to which the army is facing problems in military operations and other works. Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv, who played an important role in many army works, is interrupting supply work in the remote inaccessible areas of China-Pakistan. Along with this, works like rescue mission and patrolling are also stalled. A senior army officer told the Times of India that the ALH pilots are losing their experiences.
‘Army is suffering a big loss due to non -operation of Alh’
The Indian Army uses a large -scale advanced light helicopter. The army has more than 180 ALH, including ALH of the 60 armed Rudra version. Due to lack of operation, the army is suffering a big loss. The Indian Air Force has 75, the Navy has 24 and the Coast Guard has 19 ALH. All these have been created by Hindustan Aeronotics Limited (HAL). He has been in service since 2002 and is considered to be the most powerful aircraft of the army. Last year itself, the army’s Alh flew around 40,000 hours.
‘Army needs over 1,000 new helicopters’
According to the report, after an accident in Porbandar on 5 January, the aircraft were stopped from flying. In this accident, 2 Coast Guard Pilots and an aircraft divers lost their lives. There is a shortage of helicopters in the armed forces. Armed forces have said that they need more than 1,000 new helicopters in the next 10 to 15 years. It contains 484 light utility helicopters (LUH) and 419 Indian Multi-Roll Helicopter (IMRH), but these projects of HAL have been delayed.
The Army has signed a contract worth over Rs 70 crore with companies like Pawan Hans, Himalayan Heli Services, Global Wectra and Thumb Aviation. Since November, these helicopters have flew over 1,500 hours, with about 900 tonnes in remote areas like Kargil, Gurez, Kishtwar, Garhwal and parts of Himachal Pradesh. These helicopters have proved to be a boon for soldiers deployed at more than 30 posts in high altitude areas of the Himalayas. HAL is still trying to find out what was the reason for the swash plate fracture responsible for the Porbandar accident. Similar problems have been seen in other Alh.
