After the meeting chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju told reporters, “All political parties said that they are with the government and standing against terrorism.”
Intelligence Department (Intelligence Bureau) and Home Ministry officials also participated in this meeting. He told the leaders what steps are being taken to stop such attacks in future.
Opposition parties expressed concern
Leaders of all parties demanded strict measures against terrorism and terrorist bases. The Congress and some other opposition parties supported the government’s efforts and expressed concern over the mistake in security.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the party has given attention to the security lapse in the meeting and has fully supported any action against the terrorists. Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi said, “In the meeting, all the leaders together condemned the terrorist attack and asked to give full support to the government.” Kharge also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself should come to the meeting and listen to the opposition.
After the Pahalgam attack, the government on Wednesday reduced its diplomatic relations with Pakistan. The government sent the Pakistani Army officer out of the country, stopped the Indus Water Treaty of 1960 and ordered to close the path of movement from the attic border immediately.
