Voting is going on in full swing on Tuesday in the second phase of Bihar Assembly elections. Along with this, votes are also being cast for by-elections in 8 assembly seats of 6 states and one union territory across the country. Long queues of voters were seen in many areas since morning. The Election Commission has made strict security arrangements at all the polling stations so that voting can be completed peacefully.
Triangular contest on Anta seat of Rajasthan
Voting for the by-election on Anta assembly seat of Rajasthan started from this morning itself. The atmosphere at the polling stations is peaceful and security arrangements have been maintained tight. Here, a triangular contest is being considered between BJP candidate Morpal Suman, former Congress minister Pramod Jain Bhaya and independent Naresh Meena.
Before voting, BJP candidate Morpal Suman prayed for victory in the temple and prayed for victory. There are 2.28 lakh voters on this seat, who will decide the fate of 15 candidates. 268 polling stations have been set up in Anta.
It is noteworthy that after the membership of BJP MLA Kanwarlal Meena was cancelled, by-election is being held on this seat.
Heavy voting in Tarn Taran seat of Punjab
Voting is also taking place today for the by-election in Tarn Taran assembly seat of Punjab. This seat became vacant after the death of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal. Voters will decide the fate of 15 candidates here.
There are long queues at polling stations since morning. Tight security arrangements have been made in Tarn Taran and Election Commission teams are continuously monitoring.
Regarding the Tarn Taran by-election, Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said, “Voting has just started in Tarn Taran, and I appeal to all the voters of Tarn Taran assembly constituency to come out of their homes and vote. For better education of their children, for better hospitals, for the bright future of Punjab and to take Punjab forward. I urge everyone to come out in large numbers and vote.”
By-election on Budgam seat after Omar Abdullah’s resignation
Voting is also taking place today in Budgam assembly seat of Jammu and Kashmir. This seat had become vacant when Chief Minister Omar Abdullah resigned from Budgam while retaining the Ganderbal seat after winning two seats in the 2024 assembly elections.
A total of 20 candidates are in the fray here. The main contest is between National Conference’s Agha Mehmood, PDP’s Agha Syed Muntajir and BJP’s Syed Mohsin. Tight security arrangements have been made in both Budgam and Nagrota seats and the local administration is constantly monitoring the situation.
Direct contest between BJP and JMM on Ghatshila seat
A total of 13 candidates are trying their luck in today’s by-election on Ghatshila assembly seat of Jharkhand. However, the contest is believed to be direct between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
Ghatshila seat is considered very important from the political point of view of Jharkhand, because this area is tribal dominated and local issues play a big role in every election here. Voting is going on peacefully and a good crowd is being seen at the polling stations.
Voting continues in other states also
Apart from this, by-elections are also being held in Jubilee Hills of Telangana, Dampa of Mizoram and Nuapada seat of Odisha. Voting has started everywhere in the morning and voters are peacefully exercising their right to vote.
Counting of votes will take place on November 14
Along with the second phase of Bihar elections, voting is being held today on all these 8 assembly seats. Counting of votes will take place on 14th November and on the same day it will become clear who will be crowned the winner.
