In Charaka Samhita, alum is known as “rhinestones” and is considered a “trinctacular”, which means that it calms the three defects of Vata, Pitta and Kapha. According to the sage Charak, the astringent and soft properties of alum relieves it from skin disease, digestive disorders and inflammatory problems. It is considered to be a drug with Tridosha balance-it especially reduces the defect, as well as controls vata and bile.
Alum has antibacterial and antifungal properties, which help in relieving pimples, itching, boils. According to Ayurveda, there are also great benefits of eating alum with honey. It provides relief from the problem of whooping cough and mucus. Apart from this, to get relief from dandruff and itching, you mix 1-2 teaspoons of alum in shampoo and wash hair. By doing this, the scalp will be cleaned.
Helpful in running away mosquitoes along the body
Mixing alum powder in rose water or plain water and applying it on the face is also beneficial. At the same time, to get soft skin, a paste made by mixing equal quantity of honey in one teaspoon alum powder and adding a few drops of lemon juice benefits. After applying it on the face for 20 to 30 minutes, washing and removing it with light hands makes the skin soft.
For face massage, put potassium alum with half a teaspoon of water and apply on the face for 10-15 minutes, the skin looks tight and healthy. At the same time, if you are troubled by gas and stomach heaviness, then drinking a small amount of alum after eating can reduce stomach problems. Not only this, when the outbreak of mosquitoes increases during the rainy season, adding alum in the pool or water bucket cleans the water and the mosquito larvae are eliminated.
Help in removing negative powers
Alum consists of potassium and aluminum sulfate, which removes water impurities and kills infectious microorganisms. Alum tricks are also tried to remove bad or negative powers from home. Not only experts, our elders also advise it. Keeping alum in the house removes ‘eye defects’; Keeping it under the pillow, burning or using it in water removes negativity.
