Amalaki Ekadashi Fast 2026: Amalaki Ekadashi fast has been observed today, Friday, 27 February 2026. From religious point of view, this Ekadashi is considered very auspicious. Rangotsav starts from this date in Kashi Vishwanath, hence it is also called Rangbhari Ekadashi. It is a religious belief that by fasting and worshiping as per the rituals on the day of Amalaki Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu’s blessings are showered on him.

Significance of Amalaki Ekadashi

It is believed that donating a thousand cows gives the same amount of virtue. Similar virtue is obtained by fasting on Amalaki Ekadashi. Besides, this fast brings blessings of good fortune, there is prosperity and happiness in the family and there is immense increase in wealth. Along with Lord Vishnu, Amla tree is also worshiped on Amalaki Ekadashi. It is believed that Lord Vishnu resides in the Amla tree. It is also mentioned in the religious text Brahma Purana.

Amalaki Ekadashi Puja Vidhi

For the worship of Amalaki Ekadashi, the time of 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM today will be auspicious. The fast will be broken on Dwadashi date between 06:47 am to 09:06 am on 28th February. For puja, first thing in the morning, wake up and take bath and then wear clean clothes. Establish a post and worship Lord Vishnu with proper rituals.

Parshuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is worshiped on Amalaki Ekadashi. Offer yellow flowers, basil leaves, bhog, amla, naivedya to God and light incense sticks. Chant Vishnu Sahasranama or Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya mantra. After this, recite the fast story of Amalaki Ekadashi. Along with worshiping Lord Vishnu, worship the Amla tree, otherwise the worship will remain incomplete.
