Shashi tharoor: The US has declared ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF) as a terrorist organization in Pahalgam. India has welcomed America’s move. At the same time, Congress MP and former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor has also given the first response to this.
Tharoor welcomed America’s move and said that it should have happened long ago. TRF, an associate of Pakistan-based Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET), took responsibility for the terrorist attack on 22 April 2025 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people. This was the deadliest attack on Indian citizens after the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
Posted on the social media platform X, Tharoor said that during the meetings with US authorities in Washington earlier this year, he had directly questioned the US’s reluctance in blaming Pakistan over the case of sheltering terrorist groups.

Tharoor wrote, ‘In a private conversation in Washington, when I asked the American officials directly why they are still allowing Pakistan to make a safe haven of terrorist organizations. The US officials pointed to Pakistan’s alleged cooperation in action against terrorism. Recently reported the surrender of the person allegedly responsible for the AB Gate bomb blast, in which 23 American navies were killed at Kabul Airport.
He further said, ‘Our doubt about Pakistan’s action against terrorism shows our experience with terrorist agencies who are against us, not with the agencies that America considers enemies, such as ISIS-Khorasan.’
India has issued a statement and welcomed America’s move and described it as important in the fight against terrorism. Said that this action reflects intensive cooperation between India and America.
