The US State Department (DOS) has taken this step after a social media review, including the embassy officials. In such a situation, new students applying for student visas in the United States will also come under the purview of this scrutiny of social media, whether it comes under F (Academic Study Visa), M (Vocational Study Visa) or J (Exchange Visa). Due to this move taken by the US administration, new applicants applying for study visas will not get a chance to study in America.
3.31 lakh Indian students are studying in America
According to the latest report of Open Doors, a total of 1.1 million (about 11 lakh) foreign students are studying in the United States in 2023-24, out of which around 3.31 lakh students are from India.
