The United States Department of War has clarified the rumors spreading regarding the recently released Standard Contract Announcement. There was a wrong report in the media that new Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs) would be sent to Pakistan. However, the War Department said that this was not true in any part.

The purpose of this amendment is to relate to maintenance and spares only. This has nothing to do with any upgrade in Pakistan’s existing military capabilities or new missile delivery. The department said that this step has been taken for various countries under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract and the material being sent to Pakistan is only for sustainment and spares. The War Department has urged media and readers to see official statements for accurate information and to ignore rumors.
