While India has made a big military attack on Pakistan under ‘Operation Sindoor’ and tension is seen deepening between the two countries, on the other hand the international brokerage firm Jeferies has expressed confidence in India’s economy and stock market. They believe that even if a war -like situation is created, then its effect on the market will be temporary.
There will be a decline, but will not last long
Analysts of Jefferies say that due to Indo-Pak tension, there may be some decline in the stock market, but it will not last long. Especially earlier, there was some instability in the market at the time of surgical strike (2016) and AISRARIC (2019), but soon there was improvement.
Distance from tourism and real estate sector
In view of this increasing tension, Jefferies have reduced the weight of tourism and real estate sector from their model portfolio. They believe that if the situation worse, then the most affect will be on these areas because these sectors stand on trust and stability. In an atmosphere like war, people first withdraw from travel and property investment.
Which sectors are relying on Jefferies?
The trust of Jefferies remains on banking, auto, NBFCs and telecom sector. He has done these areas ‘overweight’ in his portfolio, that is, more reliable. They argue that these sectors are comparatively more flexibility and durability, which can remain strong even at the time of decline in the market.
Vigilance on industrial and infrastructure sector
Jefferies have taken a little cautious stance on the industrial and infra sector. They believe that if the tension on the border increases further, then the concerns of investors about the big factories and projects near the border may increase, which may affect the performance of these sectors.
Stress is not over yet, the situation is delicate
Jefferies have also warned that even though there has been a strike from India, tension is still intact due to cross -border firing and counter -attacks from Pakistan. Therefore, more instability can be seen in the near future.
