Amidst the uproar over SIR, Election Commission’s big decision, BLO salary doubled, order issued


The Election Commission of India is conducting Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in 12 states and union territories of the country. These also include Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, where assembly elections are to be held next year. In the first phase, the Election Commission had conducted SIR in Bihar, where the opposition had alleged that the votes of many legitimate people had also been deducted. Opposition parties in UP and Bengal are also making similar allegations. Apart from this, TMC in Bengal alleges that BLOs are committing suicide due to work pressure.

The Election Commission has taken a big decision. ECI has doubled the salary of BLOs and BLO supervisors engaged in SIR campaign. The Election Commission has increased the salary of booth level officers from Rs 6000 to Rs 12,000. The salary of BLO supervisors has been increased from Rs 12,000 to Rs 18,000. However, there has been no increase in the salaries of AERO and ERO. AERO will get a salary of Rs 25 thousand and ERO will get a salary of Rs 30 thousand.

Here is the new order of the Election Commission

In the notice issued by the Election Commission, it was told that electoral rolls are the foundation of democracy. This machinery consists of Electoral Officer, Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, BLO Supervisor and Booth Level Officer. Work very hard. Play an important role in preparing electoral rolls without any discrimination and transparent. Therefore, the Commission has decided to double the annual salary of all BLOs and also increase the salary of the BLO supervisors who prepare the electoral rolls as well as make changes in them. The last time such a change was made was in 2015.

Special incentive was prepared for BLOs in Bihar

The Election Commission said that for the SIR process started from Bihar, a special incentive of Rs 6,000 was also approved for BLOs. This decision reflects the commitment of the Election Commission, which works tirelessly at the field level to maintain electoral rolls, support voters and strengthen the election process on behalf of genuine employees.

How much salary increase?

The Election Commission has increased the salary of booth level officer from Rs 6 thousand to Rs 12 thousand. Apart from these, the incentive has been increased from Rs 1 thousand to Rs 2 thousand. The salary of BLO Supervisor has been increased from Rs 12 thousand to Rs 18 thousand. Till now AERO was not getting honorarium, now he will get an honorarium of Rs 25 thousand. Apart from these, ERO will be given an honorarium of Rs 30 thousand.
