Amit shah on us tariff: Union Home Minister Amit Shah (Amit Shah) said on Wednesday (9 April 2025) that external pressures will not panic among Indian citizens. Despite global uncertainties, our domestic economy remains strong. Speaking at the ‘Rising Bharat Summit’ in Delhi, Amit Shah said that India’s economy is capable of facing such pressures.
The Home Minister said, “It is too early to determine its effect. India is not the only country to face tariff. Many countries are facing tariffs. Maybe our goods may be exported to other countries as well.”

He further said that American tariff is a complex issue. It is not prudent to determine its effect in haste. Shah said that India’s economy is flexible and assured that such external pressure would not create nervousness among Indian citizens.
India will talk with America- Piyush Goyal
Earlier, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said that India will talk with the US to get a discount from President Donald Trump’s mutual tariff. India has agreed to sign the bilateral trade agreement (BTA) with the US by the end of this year.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said- We will soon talk to Trump administration
Foreign Minister S. According to Jaishankar, New Delhi plans to strengthen a trade agreement, as the effects of US mutual tariffs are still unknown. He said in the first program organized during the day, “We decided that we (Donald) will talk to the Trump administration soon. We were very open and creative with them, as they were with us. What we agreed was that we would try to negotiate a bilateral trade agreement by the end of this year.”
Following bilateral talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Trump at Washington DC in February, the two countries announced that they would negotiate the first phase of BTA by the end of 2025.
