Amitabh-Abhishek attended Piyush Pandey’s funeral, Ila Arun became emotional remembering her brother.


Advertising veteran Piyush Pandey died on Friday after suffering from pneumonia for several weeks. He was 70 years old. Late Piyush Pandey was the brother of singer-actress Ila Arun. On Saturday, Piyush Pandey merged into Panchatattva. Shahenshah of Bollywood i.e. Amitabh Bachchan had attended his funeral along with his son and actor Abheesh Bachchan. Many other celebs had also come to bid farewell to late Piyush Pandey.

Amitabh had expressed grief by writing a note on Piyush’s demise.
On Friday, Amitabh had expressed his condolences on Piyush’s demise. On his blog, he described Piyush as his “most friendly friend” and “mentor”. He wrote, “A creative genius… a very friendly friend and mentor… has left us… there are no words to express our grief… Piyush Pandey passed away this morning… the creative works left behind by him will remain an eternal symbol of his immense creativity. Shocked! Speechless!!”

Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan also wrote a post on X expressing grief over the demise of Piyush Pandey. King Khan wrote in his post, “Working and being with Piyush Pandey always felt comfortable and fun. It was an honor to be a part of the amazing magic he created. He presented his genius so lightly and revolutionized India’s ad industry. Rest in peace, you will be deeply missed my friend.”

Smriti Irani also paid tribute to Piyush Pandey
Actress and politician Smriti Irani paid an emotional tribute, writing, “Piyush Pandey was not just an adman, he was one of India’s finest storytellers. He taught us that emotions are the truest language of creativity. His words made brands human and ideas immortal. Farewell to the legend who made us feel, think and smile.”

Shankar Mahadevan, Vivek Oberoi, Anupam Kher and Vivek Agnihotri also paid tribute to Piyush Pandey.

Ila Arun became emotional
At the funeral of her brother Piyush Pandey, Ila Arun became very emotional and said that she has a lot of pain in her heart. While talking to the media, Ila said, “I would like to say that this is not an opportunity for me to give an interview, but Bhaiya was very fond of the press people. And whether it was a small or a big paper, if you asked him to talk to you for two minutes, he used to feel the need. So, it is my duty to talk to you all. He was the brother of seven sisters. There is a lot of pain in the heart from leaving. Can’t say what phase we are going through. But on his behalf, I would like to thank the entire advertising family, to ONM, who is his big family, to the general public for whom he made ads, to everyone who loved his ad so much.”

Who was Piyush Pandey?
This advertising veteran played an important role in iconic ad campaigns like Asian Paints’ ‘Har Khushi Mein Rang Laaye’, Cadbury’s ‘Kuch Khaas Hai’ and Fevicol’s ‘Egg’ film. Awarded the Padma Shri in 2016 and the ‘Legend’ award at the London International Awards in 2024, Piyush Pandey created history as the first Asian to chair the Cannes Lions jury in 2004. He started his acting career with filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s acclaimed 2013 film ‘Madras Cafe’.
