An Attempt was made to do a Whatsapp Scam on Paytm Founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma The Post Went Viral

By now you must have heard that online thugs steal the identity of others and scam. But when the target of cheating becomes the name of the cheating himself, then the matter is also fun and shocking.

Something similar happened with Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma. He received a message on Whatsapp, in which the person in front recognized himself as ‘Vijay Shekhar Sharma’. That is, the scammer got the identification of Vijay and messaged him.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma posted a post on social media about this incident and wrote, “IMPERSONATING MySelf to Me.” He also shared a screenshot of the WhatsApp message in which Scammer is asking him, “Are you in the office?” And is telling himself ‘Vijay Shekhar Sharma’.

Funny reactions on social media

After this post, there was a flood of reactions on the Internet. A user jokingly wrote, “Impersonating ka tarika thoda kesual hai.” The other said in a serious tone, “Joke is its place, but this is a serious issue. Many people get into such a way.” A third user quipped, “Just need so much confidence.” So while referring to Paytm, the fourth said, “Ask him, how much cashback will be available on Paytm UPI?” And another user said in the film style, “Vijay calling Vijay – like ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ was in the movie.”

How to avoid WhatsApp scam?

WhatsApp has told in a blog how such scams can be avoided. Wait the first step and think. If someone asks you to answer quickly, ask to trust or ask for your pin and personal details, then be alert.

Second step, close the conversation immediately. If someone’s behavior seems suspicious, stop talking. Whatsapp itself says, “If you are unable to identify the front, do not share any personal or financial information.”

Block the third step and report. Block such scammers immediately and report to Whatsapp. Also, always keep your privacy and security settings updated.

The scam now comes in joke, but the effect is real

Vijay Shekhar Sharma’s case may look funny on social media, but it shows that scammers can now go to any extent. Need to be cautious and technology as well as wise to walk wisely.
