West Indies veteran all -rounder Andre Russell has retired from cricket. The second T20 against Australia was the last match of his career, in which he batted and bowled in a rage. Russell had already announced that the second T20 match of the series against Australia will be the last match of his career. Russell played a cameo innings of 36 runs at a stormy strike rate of 240 in the second T20, but Russell could not see the win of the West Indies in his last match.
Andre Russell came to bat in this match when the West Indies score was 98/5. As soon as he came, he started putting shots in a stormy style and in his 36 -run innings, he hit 2 fours and four sixes. His stormy innings helped the West Indies to cross the score of 170.
Andre Russell’s Retirement Speech
Andre Russell said in his retirement speech, “I want to thank the people present in Sabina Park and the opportunities given by the West Indies Cricket Board. I am very happy to retire in front of my domestic fans, but the result of the match did not go towards us. I am happy that I am happy to play so many matches for my national team, thank everyone for support.”
West Indies could not win the match
The West Indies team could not leave Andre Russell with a win. In this match, the Caribbean team scored 172 runs in the prescribed 20 overs while playing first. Apart from Russell’s stormy innings of 36 runs, Brendon King scored 51 runs. In response, Australia won an easy 8 wicket win with 28 balls remaining. Openers Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh could not do anything special, but Josh returned unbeaten after scoring English 78 runs and Cameron Green 56 runs.
