Another bad news is coming for Rohit Sharma! Sunil Gavaskar made a big disclosure

There is a period of major changes in the Indian cricket team these days. The first ODI captaincy was taken away from Rohit Sharma, and now cricket veteran Sunil Gavaskar has given a statement that has further increased the concern of the fans. Gavaskar says that in the coming days, another bad news related to Rohit Sharma can be heard.

“Be ready for bad news now”

In a conversation with sports, Sunil Gavaskar said that Rohit Sharma’s future will now depend on the thinking of team management and his own decision. Gavaskar said, “If Rohit is not making a clear promise whether he will continue to play ODI for the next two years, then the fans should go ahead and be ready for bad news.”

His statement has intensified the discussion in the cricket world whether Rohit Sharma is going to retire from ODI soon or the team management is now planning to exclude him slowly.

“Rohit will now have to play Vijay Hazare Trophy”

Gavaskar also said that if Rohit Sharma wants to pursue ODI career, then he will have to be active in domestic cricket. He said, “Rohit knows that if he only plays ODI cricket, he will get very few opportunities. Now he will have to play tournaments like Vijay Hazare Trophy to prove himself. Perhaps this is the reason why the team management has taken this stand.”

Recently, BCCI also made it clear that now any player, even if he is a senior, will not be entitled to selection in the Indian team without playing domestic cricket.

There is no more place of ODI left in the calendar

Gavaskar further said that India will play very few ODIs in the coming two years, which can make it difficult for Rohit to maintain form and fitness. He further said, “Team India’s schedule is now focused on Test and T20 International. If Rohit plays only 5–7 ODIs in the year, then big preparations like World Cup cannot be done in so many matches.” He said that perhaps for this reason the selectors have decided to prepare Shubman Gill as the future captain.

Fans got a big shock

Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India won the T20 World Cup last year and the Champions Trophy recently. In such a situation, the fans hoped that he would continue to lead the team in ODIs as well, but Gavaskar’s statement clearly indicates that the ODI chapter of the career of “Hitman” is now on the slope.
