More than 2800 houses were evacuated
According to the information, an order has been given to evacuate 2,825 houses in coastal areas in Ofunato city of Iwate province. Along with this, instructions have been issued to 6,138 people living in these houses to go to safe places.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, a tsunami of 10 cm was observed in Ofunato port of Iwate at 5:39 pm. At 5:12 pm, a weak tsunami was observed 70 kilometers off the coast of Iwate.
Fear of waves up to one meter
There is a possibility of waves up to 1 meter in tsunami warning in Japan. The intensity of this earthquake was measured at 4 in Morioka city and Yahaba town of Iwate as well as in Wakuya town of neighboring Miyagi Prefecture.
In a statement issued by East Japan Railway, it was said that there will be no electricity in Tohoku Shinkansen for some time. Due to this, operations between Sendai and Shin-Aomori stations have been suspended. Earlier on October 5, earthquake tremors were felt in Japan. Its intensity was measured at 6.0 on the Richter scale. Its center was at a depth of 50 kilometers underground.
