Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman may have issued a clarification after facing criticism over his “communal” statement, but his statement has created quite a stir in the music and film industry. Many celebs have criticized his statement. Now bhajan emperor Anup Jalota has also joined this list. Taking aim at the musician, he has also said that he has given a very shocking advice.
Anoop Jalota targets AR Rahman
Anoop Jalota said while talking to IANS that if Rahman feels that he is not getting work because of his religion, then he should consider converting back to Hinduism. Referring to Rahman’s background, Anoop Jalota said that AR Rahman was first a Hindu and later he accepted Islam. Even after this, he worked hard in the music world, earned name and made his place in the hearts of people. But if Rahman now believes that opportunities are decreasing because of his religion, then he should think about adopting his old religion.
Jalota said, “If he has the belief that because he is a Muslim in our country, he is not getting films to give music, then he should become a Hindu again. So, he should have the belief that by being a Hindu, he will start getting films again. This is the essence of what Rahman meant. So, my suggestion is that he should try becoming a Hindu and see whether he starts getting film projects again or not.”

Controversy over Rahman’s statement?
Recently, Rahman did an interview with BBC Asian Network. During this, Rahman was asked whether he had ever felt discrimination in Bollywood as a Tamil musician. He said, “Maybe I never knew it, maybe God kept it hidden, but I didn’t feel anything like that. In the last eight years, maybe there has been a change in power, and now power is in the hands of people who are not creative. It could also be a communal issue… but that is not clearly in front of me.” He also criticized Chhava for taking advantage of its ‘divisive’ image.
Later Rahman also issued clarification
The Oscar-winning composer later issued a statement apologizing for the “pain” caused to people. In the video, Rahman said, “Music has always been my way of connecting, celebrating and honoring our culture. India is my inspiration, my guru and my home. I understand that intentions can sometimes be misunderstood. But my intention has always been to uplift, honor and serve through music. I have never wished to hurt anyone, and I hope my message reaches people.”
