Pakistan Defense Forces (CDF) and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir on Monday (December 8, 2025) said that Pakistan is a peaceful nation. He cautioned that no one will be allowed to test the territorial integrity or sovereignty of Islamabad.
To honor Munir on being appointed as the country’s first CDF GHQ (Guard of Honor was given at the Headquarters. After inspecting the guard of honour, Munir, while addressing the officers of the armed forces, also said that in case of any attack, Pakistan’s reaction will be very swift and serious.
Asim Munir gave a jackal bark
Taking revenge of the Pahalgam attack, India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terrorist structures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This attack was followed by fierce clashes for four days, which ended with an agreement to stop military action on 10 May. Munir reiterated that Pakistan is a peace-loving country, but warned that no one will be allowed to threaten the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity or test its resolve.
What did Munir say on Pakistan-Afghanistan tension?
On Pakistan-Afghanistan tension, Munir said that a clear message has been given to the Afghan Taliban regime in Kabul. He said, “The Afghan Taliban has no option but to choose between Fitnah al-Khawarij (TTP) and Pakistan.” The government last year banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was notified as Fitnah al-Khawarij, a reference to a group in Islamic history that engaged in violence.
CDF new post under 27th amendment of the Constitution
Field Marshal Munir has taken charge as the first CDF. The government issued a notification last week regarding the appointment of Munir to the new role with a tenure of five years. Along with this, he will also work as the Army Chief. The CDF was formed last month following the 27th Constitutional Amendment and subsequent changes made in the Pakistan Army, Air Force and Navy (Amendment) Bill 2025.
