A three-match ODI series will be played between India and Australia from Sunday, October 19. Shubman Gill will debut as captain in ODI from this series itself. Before the start of the first ODI, new captain Shubman Gill has given a big statement on his relationship with former captain and senior batsman Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Let us tell you that for the last few days, talks are going on on social media that Shubman Gill’s relations with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have deteriorated. Both the veterans are not even talking to the new captain. Gill has reacted regarding this. He said that his relationship with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is as strong as ever and he will not hesitate to take advice from these two legends if he is in trouble during the match.
Shubman Gill said in the press conference on the banks of Swan River, “Whatever may be going on outside, but my relationship with Rohit Sharma has not changed. Whenever I need help, he is always available. Be it finding out about the pitch or anything else. I go to him and ask him what do you think. What would you have done if you were the captain. I have a very good relationship with Virat bhai and Rohit bhai and they do not hesitate in giving advice.”
26 year old Shubman Gill knows that it is difficult to replace these two stalwarts and he will need a lot of support from both the former captains. He said, “I have talked to Virat bhai and Rohit bhai a lot about taking the team forward. How they wanted to take the team forward and this experience and lessons will help us a lot. The legacy that Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni), Virat bhai and Rohit bhai have created, there is so much experience and learning. Their experience and skills are huge for the team.”
He further said, when I was young, these were my idols and I was very inspired by the way they played and their hunger for runs. It is a matter of pride for me to captain such a team which has great players. Whenever I am in trouble, I will not shy away from taking advice from him. I have learned a lot while playing under his captaincy. I want to be the kind of captain in whom all my players feel safe and communication is clear. Both of them have served Indian cricket for almost 20 years and I have learned a lot from them. There is no comparison to his experience. He has scored runs all over the world.
